The Engineering Heritage Committee organises lectures and takes part in a number of heritage conferences both locally and interstate. Information  with regard to lectures and conferences associated with Engineering Heritage are listed below.

Sydney Based Lectures

A number of Sydney based lectures are organised by the Committee. These are usually held in the Engineers Australia - Sydney Division auditorium at 8 Thomas Street Chatswood ( ground floor ) (adjacent to Chatswood station on the west side).

The Australian National Engineering Heritage Conference

Engineering Heritage Australia organises a conference every two years.

New Zealand Conference 2009

The next conference will be in held in conjunction with our New Zealand counterparts, IPENZ, at Dunedin New Zealand in late 2009

Perth Conference 2007

Last years conference was held in Perth, Western Australia.

International Engineering Heritage & Related Conferences

TICCIH 2008 - First Chinese International Conference on Industrial Heritage

Chengdu, P.R.China, 10-15 October, 2008

In 2006, the first participant from P.R.China attended and spoke at the TICCIH XIII International Congress in Italy, in 2007, the first paper on Industrial Heritage in P.R.China was published in Industrial Patrimony (No.17), and in 2008, the first TICCIH International Conference will be held in Chengdu, P.R.China.

The Conference will not only show the participants the industrial heritage sites within and around Chengdu, but also open the exhibition hall to reveal the exhibits about industrial heritages in other cities over P.R.China.

Themes

The following themes will be discussed in the Conference:

I. Definition, Protection and Management of Industrial Heritage

II. Case Studies on Industrial Heritage

III. Industrial Heritage in Developing Countries

IV. Transfer of technology

 


10th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES ON INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE 2008

 

Agricultural and Food Industrial Heritage

 Gijón (Asturias, Spain) 1st to 4th of October 2008

In October of this year 2008 we are carrying out the 10th International Conferences on Industrial Heritage in Gijón (Asturias), organized by INCUNA, and sponsored by the TICCIH and other public and private institutions.

This occasion’s main subject is ‘Agricultural and Food Industrial Heritage’.

With the participation of world-renowned international speakers and also speakers from the different Spanish regions who will put forward questions related to: 

·          Architecture and engineering, the cultures that are developed trough building complexes and patrimonial elements from industrial heritage.

·          International and worldwide heritage on gastronomy and food cultures.

·          Agricultural and Food heritage and Landscape. Territorial uses.

·          History of the techniques used in the manufacturing and handling of food, its transformation and trade, from pre-industrial times to the modern trade centres.

·          Reuse and recycle of agricultural and food heritage worldwide. Experiences and Case Load.

·          Metal Graphics, packages and containers, advertising and marketing of agricultural and food products. 

·          Company Archives.

·          History of companies and entrepreneurs in the diversity of agricultural and food enterprise related to a singular heritage.

·          The Memories from Works and Places.

·          Museums and Interpretation Centres.

·          Routes, itineraries and Networks from tourist and cultural circuits related to Agricultural and Food heritage at regional, national and international scale.

Third International Congress on Construction History  - May 2009

Following the success of the two prior congresses in Madrid (2003) and in

Cambridge (2006), the Organising Committee and the Berlin-Brandenburg

Construction History Group are delighted to invite submissions to the Third

International Congress on Construction History, which will be held in May

2009 at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus.

Authors wishing to present a paper in the course of the congress may submit

an abstract until 1st of April 2008. For all information please visit the
